Sweet & Tart Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry sauce is an easy but absolutely crucial part of any Thanksgiving table. This recipe features the added sweetness of fresh orange juice and zest to bring cooked cranberries a more dynamic and well-rounded flavor profile.
Serves 8-10 people.
Ingredients
- one 12 oz bag of cranberries *fresh preferred but frozen works fine
- 2 medium sized oranges
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 tbsp Gran Marnier, optional
Instructions
- Zest the oranges and then juice them. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, bring orange juice, water, and sugar to a boil. Add cranberries, salt, oranges juice, orange zest, and Gran Marnier (if desired) and return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes until the cranberries have mostly burst. You might have to burst some manually with a spoon. Remove from heat.
- Cover and chill or leave at room temp until you are ready to serve.
