The Perfect Charcuterie Board

I have always been obsessed with charcuterie boards. I think it’s the perfect appetizer because you get to pick and choose what you like and taste a bunch of different things.

Grab a variety of meats and cheeses along with miscellaneous dried fruits, nuts, dips!

There is a balance that you need to keep in mind in order to create the perfect charcuterie board. Having too much meat and not enough cheese can leave vegetarians wishing there was more to choose from while the exact opposite could make a diary intolerant guest short of options. AND, only meat and cheese without a fresh bite of fruit or salty pop of an olive is kind of boring.

Pick at least two meats, two cheeses, and two bread/cracker options as a starting base. From there, sprinkle fruits, nuts, and olives in between the base items depending on what you like. I always like to add dried figs or raspberry jam if I am serving Brie! If you’re looking for a show stopper or want to up the game of your charcuterie board, try this Baked Brie with Fig Jam recipe! It’s a crowd pleaser 😉

The main thing to keep in mind when picking out items for a charcuterie board is variety.

Don’t worry about perfection or organization. Just create piles and lets things fall into each other. The look of abundance is what makes a good charcuterie board aesthetic so don’t be shy, fill your board up to the edges!

If you plan on enjoying this appetizer outdoors, wait to set it out until guests start arriving to avoid attracting flies or other annoying bugs while no one is watching.

No matter what you pick out, your guests are going to LOVE your charcuterie as long as you remember the golden rule – variety! Have fun!

With love,

Ashley Jo
